Let's build a replica Valve Paraset using, as best we can, parts used in the original.

It is assumed that you have suitably lettered metal work to start your construction. Trying to add lettering after the installation of parts fixed to the front panel is all but impossible!

You may like to use our layout to build your Paraset. It took us a long time to get this right and is designed around having the minimum number of solder tags or insulated terminals and the shortest and fewest number of flying leads. The components are not all cramped in one area or on-top of each other.

Fit all the hardware and make sure you mount the valve holders with the spigot in the correct direction. You will need to put solder tags where shown in GREEN. You will also need three insulated solder tags (insulated stand offs') where shown in RED.

You will need to fit a 6 way tag strip where shown but only if you intend to fit the side tone piezo sounder and its associated circuitry.

We mount our lamps holders into the panel by pushing them into a suitable rubber grommet. No metalwork required other than a round hole for the grommet. The bulb holders are a tight fit and do not move. If you look at the photos you can see how the bulb holders are pushed in and fit flush with the top of the rubber grommet. Might this work for you?

You are about to start wiring up but DO NOT SOLDER YET make the connections by wrapping the wire around the terminal or tag.

Following the layout drawing and using single strand, bare hook up wire (nice and rigid) make the ORANGE connections as shown.

With the PA tuning coil secured to the chassis as shown, connect the the single turn windings to the bulbs B1 and B2 as shown.
